Cross-border Disease Preparedness and Response Network
The mission of the Cross-Border Disease Preparedness and Response Network is to support the cooperation and coordination of public health institutions to help prevent and control the spread across borders of serious diseases in humans, and to combat other serious cross-border threats to health, to ensure a high level of public health protection along the Lithuanian-Polish border
GENESIS
The Cross-border Disease Preparedness and Response Network, hereinafter referred to as “the Network”, was established under Project no. LT-PL-5R-356 entitled “Strengthening the Cross-border Disease Preparedness and Response System” implemented under the Interreg V-A Lithuania – Poland Cooperation Program

MISSION
The mission of the Network is to support cooperation and coordination of public health institutions to improve the prevention of the spread of serious diseases across borders in humans and to support the control of this spread, and to combat other serious cross-border threats to health, to ensure a high level of public health protection on the Lithuanian-Polish border.
WITHIN THE SCOPE OF ITS MISSION, THE NETWORK:
- contributes to increasing the capacity for monitoring, early warning and assessment of responses to serious cross-border threats to health,
- searches for, collects, collates, evaluates and disseminates relevant data and scientific and technical information in the field of cross-border health threats,
- Provides information, expertise and best practices to public health institutions,
- Promotes and initiates research necessary to fulfill its mission, as well as applied research and research projects related to the feasibility, development and preparation of its activities,
- contributes to increasing the capacity of health systems in the context of managing and controlling the risks of infectious diseases and other specific health problems in the border area,
- supports the response to the epidemic and outbreaks of diseases on the Lithuanian-Polish border, in addition to national and other response instruments in such situations,
- cooperates with competent national authorities and other interested parties in initiating and implementing public information campaigns,
- promotes the interoperability of national / local health systems,
- it facilitates the development and implementation of activities financed by relevant national and EU funding instruments, including the implementation of joint activities of the members of the Network.
MEMBERSHIP
Participants of the Network may be all natural persons, legal persons, as well as entities without legal personality who express the will to cooperate in the implementation of the above-mentioned objectives of the Network.
